When you are first starting out on an idea or venture or trying to make some fundamental change in your life, there is basically no difference between making a choice that is 1 % better or 1 % worse.
In other words, it won’t create much difference on DAY 1.
If you were to begin a meditation practice and sit for one minute today, chances are you would not reach enlightenment in the first minute.

But by day 365, if you had sat every day and increased your sitting practice by only one minute a week, by week 52, you would be sitting effortlessly for almost an hour.
Your sitting practice would have compounded, and you would have figured out a secret most people never stop to ponder:
There is a massive gap between people who make only slightly better choices each day and those who don’t.
Slightly better choices each day is better than none
And it all started from a humble 60 seconds of effort.
This is why a small choice ( Cheeseburger, fries, and a coke) won’t make much of a difference to your health if you ate like this one and a while.
But a year of those choices on a regular basis would have devastating effects on your health.
Impact-full changes without giving up
So, how can we apply this in our own lives to make impact-full change easier for ourselves without giving up.
We can learn to tiptoe around fear & the fight or flight response by taking tiny steps towards improvements and making small steady incremental changes so small (1%) they often are not noticeable, but in the long run they become meaningful, important and change the game for us.
If you find yourself stuck with a bad habit you can’t quit or you’re not getting the results you want in your life, it’s usually the sum of many small choices that compound over long periods of time, so much so that they almost go unnoticed till a crisis points them out to you … a 1 % choice can go either way.
We ignore our true selves, the voice of our hearts, one little inconsequential moment at a time, but we eventually learn that there are no inconsequential moments. They add up like drops of water slowly filling a large barrel.
A truth ignored will always eventually lead to a crisis, which means, within every crisis is a hidden truth that has been suppressed.
The secret to changing anything in your life
I’d like to leave you with this simple idea, that you can change anything in your life more effectively by building in small consistent behaviours rather than by feeling like you need to make some huge, radical and rapid 360’s in your life.
Sometimes those huge shifts happen too, often when people have put the time and effort in for them to manifest, and I’ve seen people make huge progress very fast when they had real clarity of mind – but if you want to change some things in your life and make then stick, then consider small questions and small steps as a very supportive practice for you to adopt, which over time can create incredible things in a much easier way.
